My Goals for 2012

Another day another year! 2011 flew by super fast and now 2012 is upon us. This year is bound to be full of travel, new experiences, new friendships, strengthening of old friendships and enjoying life as I best can. For me, this represents my 28th year of life and this summer brings my ten year high school reunion. I have a lot to be excited about! Now onto my goals…

1. Visit 5 new countries: While the list isn’t yet set in stone, I would like to get to Tunisia, Portugal, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Viet Nam, and Cambodia. (They say aim for the moon….) I will keep you posted on this goal.

2. Secure a two year contract: In the last four years, I haven’t lived anywhere for more than a year and some places less than. I’ve lived in five different countries on four continents. I think it is safe to say that this year I will be looking to secure a bit more stability in my life. Plus after being back home I realize that there are a lot of shoes, clothes, books and knick knacks that I would like to be reunited with and that can only come when I know I will be somewhere for an extended amount of time.

3. Stop cursing: This little potty mouth has got to go! I will be charging myself 1€ for each bad word!

4. Blog 3 times per week: I am committed to blogging more consistently this year. I would like to share photos and suggestions from places that I have visited and also pointers for travelers. I will also be sharing articles and book reviews and sometimes just my random thoughts. 🙂

5. Get my photos into a gallery: I have been shooting since 2005. I first started shooting on film. I got my first digital SLR in 2006 and this has led to my collection of over 20,000 photos. While all of them are not gallery appropriate, I am confident enough about my work to know that some of them should be seen by a wider audience. I am in touch with a few people and I will keep you posted on my success.

6. Read 10 books: I have a ton of books in multiple locations and I just want to get through them all. I love books and I love reading. And I like flipping good old fashioned pages as opposed to e-readers. So this year I will be committing to reading more. Goodreads has a challenge system set up. If you join, add me.

  1. I love the travel goal and the gallery goal the most. I must say I love your photography and think a lot of it is gallery worthy.

I also commend you for securing (because I am sure you will) a 2 year contract. This also gives me time to come visit. 🙂
