Happy Cinco de Mayo
So yesterday was Cinco de Mayo. I know its today for most readers but I’m living in the future right now. Keondra has been going on and on about drinking this Patron and since it was Cinco de Mayo, I suggested we make magaritas and eat Mexican food. Keeping in mind that we are in Fiji, you can imagine the difficult task at hand. We had to find taco seasoning and margarita mix. After trying three different shops we finally found the margarita mix.
At the first shop I asked if they had it and the lady replied no, then asked me again what I wanted. Once I told her again, she said no and I asked her if she was sure, all the while looking at her as if I wouldn’t believe anything that she told me. At the second store, the shopkeeper nearly knocked me down and barely apologized, then the lady at the counter was on the phone and didn’t want to be bothered. The person that she had help me had to ask her anyway, so… At a wine shop owned by a man from New Zealand, we found the mix. We were warned in advance that it wouldn’t be like it is in the states, but we figured better that mix, than nothing at all.
As far as the taco seasoning, Keondra made a phone call and one of the Peace Corps volunteers was able to send us in the right direction. Keondra made quesadillas and they were absolutely amazing. I made the margaritas and they were quite delicious!!! What a great night!
