Wananavu Beach Resort
Wananavu Beach Resort is a resort isolated on the northern tip of paradise, paradise being the main island of Fiji, Viti Levu. It is located just outside of Raki Raki. After traveling up a rocky road, I wish they could throw some cement down on that for a more comfortable ride, you are greeted by security who will help you with your bags. The first thing I realized after checking in was that I was in paradise and that the staff was absolutely amazing. Every time a staff member sees you, they greet you and are likely to introduce themselves and they will remember your name and address you by it throughout the whole stay. Once they give you an overview of the resort you are given a welcome drink, bu, which is coconut milk, which you drink straight from the coconut.
The accommodations at this hotel are all private bures which are basically upscale cabins, just to give you an idea. You can choose from garden view or ocean view. When you walk into your bure, you are greeted by earthly accent pieces, white linens, and fresh flowers. And because of the idea of isolation and relaxation, there is no phone, tv, radio, or internet in the room. So if you are looking to get away from it all, this is the perfect location.
On the grounds, they have a lovely pool with a small waterfall, a marina, and access to the beach. You can see the coastline from just about anywhere on the grounds and the best view, when not on the beach, is from the dining area. Imagine having dinner while watching a Fijian sunset. Yes, it is heaven. Included in the cost of the stay are activities such as tennis, kayaking, and snorkeling. Also included is breakfast which was amazing. My favorite was the french toast, served with coconut butter. The bacon here was amazing as well. I’m not really into to pork, but that was some good bacon. The hotel also organizes various activities everyday, including diving trips, snorkeling trips, Frisbee golf (which i never figured out what that was), picnics, and loads of other things.
Overall, this has been one of the best getaways I have had in all of my traveling. If I’m ever in the South Pacific again, I will be sure to return to Wananavu.
