Hanging Out in Atlanta

This is the third time that I have visited Atlanta and as before, I completely love the city. Parts of it remind me of Detroit and I just like the energy and look of this city.

Wednesday evening the girls and I headed over to MJQ (not MJQs) which I was told was a hipster’s paradise dance club. Upon arrival there was a small line and a very funny list of rules or rather points of information. The place was CROWDED, but in a good way. There were two rooms for dancing and we explored both. When you go to MJQ it is to have a good time and get down and boogie!! I will not share too many details, but just know that there was a soul train line that we and some other folks started. There were two bars from what I remember and they only take cash.

Saturday night was our big night out and we headed to Halo Lounge for Dope Saturday, a popular destination known for good dancing music. I was told it is somewhere between hipster and stuffy so I figured it would be alright. The original dress that I had planned to wear, my idea of typical club attire, was a bit too dressy so we ran to Perimeter Mall and picked up a quick substitute. We arrived a bit early to the club so it was a bit empty by around 12:30 there was a good crowd but it never got packed and it didn’t matter because we all danced the night away to the tunes of DJ Neil Armstrong, who is Jay Z’s former DJ. When I come back to Atlanta, I would definitely put Halo on the list again because it had been a VERY long time since I had that much fun at a club.
