Eating Atlanta: Noche-Highlands

2013-06-19 17.14.16

After a mere four days on the ground following my five week Ugandan/Ethiopian adventures, I found myself back inside of DTW’s McNamara terminal, with my jet lag in tow, heading to Atlanta. Though my original flight was delayed, it caused me no disruptions, Delta put me on an earlier flight and I even got an upgrade!

Somehow the pilot managed to get us to Atlanta in an hour and twenty minutes and I was met by humidity and Marissa at the airport. Because my flight arrived late in the evening and my body no longer allows me to really stay up past 11:30pm, we headed straight back to Marissa’s house and after some quick catching up I was counting sheep.

We got a late start on Wednesday and headed to Noche for some snacks and $3 Sangria. Firstly, let me say the service was great! While I can’t remember her name, she was a very cool lady from Israel. The second thing that I loved about the place was the prices. Coming back from five weeks in Africa, I thought that I would have a lot of sticker shock when it came to eating but Noche offered a painless easing back into USD prices.

We ordered the shrimp tacos, blackened fish tacos, trailer park tacos, deviled eggs and apple smoke bacon wrapped dates. The shrimp tacos were good not great. The shrimp wasn’t that well seasoned, but the black beans more than made up for it. The blackened fish tacos were also good. Marissa said that the trailer park tacos are great! That is what she always orders when she goes there. The deviled eggs should be left right where they are. I love deviled eggs and I would NEVER order these again. They left a lot to be desired. The apple smoked bacon wrapped dates were heavenly! ORDER THEM! The Sangria was ok. As Marissa said, you can easily see why they are $3, they were not very strong.
