Carol’s Daughter Hair Milk Pudding Review
As a member of the natural hair community, I am always on the hunt for the perfect product combination for my hair, from shampoo and conditioner to the perfect creams for my twist out and a moisturizer for touch ups. I recently colored my hair meaning that keeping it moisturized is more important than ever. Yesterday I washed and conditioned my hair with my new favorite shampoo and conditioner combo (more on that later) and I decided to try Carol’s Daughter Hair Pudding, which I bought a few weeks ago for my aunt.
I used the product on my wet hair, as the container told me to, and proceeded to use it for my flat twists. Firstly, the product had no smell, unless my nose was broken. This was a bit disappointing because I always look forward to the yummy smells of products for natural hair. When I felt the product I was a bit skeptical but figured I would just try it out. Putting it on my hair and feeling the texture, I knew that it was unlikely to give me the moisture that I needed. By the time I finished the twists, I knew it was a mistake, but didn’t have the patience to rewash my hair. So I wrapped my head in a scarf, went to a movie and came home and went to sleep, not to see the results until morning. Prior to going to sleep I sprayed Carol’s Daughter Black Vanilla Moisturizing Leave-In Conditioner, in an attempt to gain some moisture by morning.
When I took out my twists in the morning, the curls looked good but my hair was hard and extremely dry. I was severely disappointed and went into instant panic mode. I put Roots of Nature Butter Whipped Coil Cream (which I STRONGLY recommend. I prefer to use it on my dry hair for twists) in my hair, which helped, but the damage had been done. I also added more of the black vanilla spray, but because it is a liquid, too much will change your curl pattern, as if you got it wet. Needless to say, my disappointment with the product was strong enough for me to run and do this post. I would be grateful to hear about the experience of others, but I for one would NEVER EVER use the product again. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me!
I have to agree Jessica, I have not had any success with CD on my natural hair! It's such a popular brand, that it boggles me that I've not found anything that does well with my natural hair. Sucks…right? I really like the Kinky Curly conditioner, which I use as a leave-in.
I only read this post because I saw the CD picture. I thought you were going to say something positive which would have been a surprise to me. I have only heard wonk wonk reviews about CD.
