Eating Rome: Lima Chicken
Pizza, Pasta and Pane, oh my! Living in Italy offers access to some of the world’s greatest cuisine, but let’s be honest, every now and again you get full of the three Ps. Having been in Rome for a year now, I have experienced first hand the allergy to globalization. There are not very many options for non-Italian food and usually if you find something, it is generally overpriced and not very good though generally is able to satisfy. After reading a blog post on Young in Rome, Lucia and I hopped on Metro A and headed to the Flaminio stop in search of the Peruvian restaurant, Lima Chicken, for our own little celebration of Women’s Day. Conveniently located a few steps from the Metro, Lima Chicken does not disappoint. It is not the fanciest place, but the food is good and not too expensive. My expectations were high since I absolutely love Peruvian food and one of my top five NYC restaurants, Pio Pio, does it like no one else.
I was pleasantly surprised with the meal. We both ordered a quarter chicken which is served with fries and salad for only 8€. They also had a green sauce, which was made of mint and was very good paired with the spicier sauce, but was of no comparison to that of Pio Pio, for my NYCers. We also ordered ceviche, which Lucia had never tasted before. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. The pieces of fish were larger than any ceviche I had ever had before, but it was absolutely delicious. I have returned to Lima Chicken a few times since then and I am sure they will see me plenty more times before I leave. So if you are tired of pizza and pasta, hop on the Metro and enjoy!!
