Worth a 1,000 Words: Teaching in Japan

For those of you who don’t know, from February 2008 – February 2009 I taught English in Japan to students from the age of 6 months – 14 years, and three adult students. Living and working in Japan was the best year of my life. The picture below was taken during my first few months. I am in a classroom with one of my favorite students, Makoto. I believe he was about 18 months old in this picture. His mom stayed in the classroom with him, but towards the end of my year there he was able to be in the classroom without her.
