Haiti
While trying to decide on a country for my monumental 50th country I chose Haiti because of its rich history as the first independent black country. Because of the involvement of a number of countries since their independence, Haiti has struggled economically and as a result has not been high on people’s bucket lists, though it should be! With beautiful beaches, rich history, awe inspiring art and delicious food, Haiti is a great, quick, tropical getaway. #catchmeinhaiti

Where to eat
Asu Rooftop Lounge
Located at the Karibe Hotel, as the name suggests, it is on the rooftop and offers spectacular views. On the weekend, this is definitely the place to be in Petionville. Be sure to try the truffle fries and truffle mac and cheese. Thank me later!
Magdoos
A popular spot with locals and expats alike, Magdoos offers Lebanese food in Petionville coupled with great cocktails and a beautiful atmosphere.
Where to stay
Karibe Hotel
If you are looking for a comfortable, typical hotel experience Karibe is perfect. With a nice pool and beautiful views from the rooftop lounge it is a perfect landing pad in Petionville.
Maxime Boutique Hotel
A beautiful little spot in PetionVille to get away from it all. Maxime Boutique Hotel takes a personalized approach, to serving its guests and anticipating their needs at all times during their stay. The bonus is morning yoga on the rooftop!
Villa Nicole
Villa Nicole is a small family-owned and operated boutique hotel on the coast in Jacmel. The relaxed vibe make you feel like you are at home. And the lobster with the lemon butter sauce is the best I have ever eaten in my life!
