Google Pixel 3 – Empowering the Journey

About a month ago, I joined #teampixel and although I was hesitant at first, the more and more I used the phone, the more I became shocked that I never considered switching before. After one month, Google Pixel is helping me to achieve my goal of traveling to every country in the world by helping me to document the people that I meet along the way.
I, like many of you, have been using the same smartphone since 2000. This phone has been my lifeline – especially when it comes to syncing with my laptop and tablet. Because of this seamless system I was comfortable with, the thought of switching seemed impossible.
Then comes along the Pixel 3XL.
I won’t lie, the learning curve was a bit steep and that coupled with the frustration that comes with travel made the first few days rocky. However, now I can say with confidence that I cannot imagine my life without the Pixel. Four weeks in, and I have recognized the game changing power of this device. With 10 countries under our belt, Pixel is my new favorite travel buddy.
Pixel is truly changing the way that I travel and the way that I capture content – most notably because it is making content creation easier. I have been opting for my Pixel over my DSLR – a switch that has allowed be to capture more content for a few reasons. For one, capturing portraits or video of everyday life in the countries I visit is even easier. Not only is Pixel a quicker and lighter device to capture with – it doesn’t feel as intimidating or invasive for my subject. So far I have ventured to the US, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Somaliland, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Burundi, South Sudan, Kenya and Malawi and the results have been awe inspiring.

My favorite features, by far are portrait mode, wide angle selfie, and lens. Using portrait mode has allowed me to capture some of my favorite shots from the last few years.
Google lens is probably the coolest feature on the phone. You can point your phone at objects, buildings, clothing items and more and Google Lens will tell you exactly what you’re looking at. I used Google lens one of the many gorgeous ceilings and it instantly knew that it was located inside of the Ritz Carlton Jeddah.

Hi Jessica , it sounds like my next device is going to be the Pixel 3. I do have one question for you if you don’t mind , what is a Pixel 3 ? I have it narrowed down to two categories:
1 ) a camera
or
2 ) a smartphone
My current phone is about 2 years old. It’s a HUAWEI P 20 ( Chinese Government bad – my mistake for buying a HUAWEI 2 years ago )
Nevertheless it does have an excellent camera in it. Except it does not take quality night photos. My night photos have a washed-out faded look to them.

The Google Pixel is a smartphone. The Pixel 4 is out now so I would recommend that you research that. All the best!

These photos are amazing! You’re so right about using the same phone since 2000. I’ve had mine for awhile too and I keep buying the same phone because I’m used to it and it syncs with my other devices. And I just bought the latest upgrade. But after seeing these pictures I’m thinking I should have tried the Pixel. 🤔 Your photos are beautiful!!
