J. Cole: Your Favorite Rapper’s New Favorite Rapper
If you haven’t heard about the newest phenomenon in the hip hop world you need to head over to www.jcolemusic.com and download the first mixtape release from Roc Nation’s (Yes Roc Nation as in a Jay Z effort) first signed artist. On Monday night in New York City at Soho’s Le Poisson Rouge, J. Cole celebrated the release of his mixtape. The humble rapper and dear friend greeted all of his fans in line, a line that was wrapped around the corner. Him and his crew handed out CDs and he insisted on waiting outside until everyone was inside. Not only is J. Cole a great rapper, but his southern roots have kept him grounded throughout his recent popularity. The party was packed and it was great for me because I saw loads of folks that I went to undergrad with. There were a lot of surprised faces because no one ever expects me to pop up. There were loads of bottles, cute guys, and of course a performance by J. Cole. It was a night that was monumental and surreal for a guy that I’ve known since my sophomore year in college. After having too much to drink me and my friend Crystal left and headed for pizza, then back uptown.
Tell a friend to tell a friend to download the album. Here’s a clip from his performance. Oh and you can also follow him on twitter.com/JColeNC.
